Products on the Profile Are Not a Catalogue

A few products on the profile are a window. Size, stock, and how to order live on the shelf behind it.

The product list on the profile is a window with a few items. A catalogue is the full shelf. Size, variety, whether it is in stock, and how to order live on the shelf. Treating the window as the warehouse makes the thing the customer wants invisible. The item you stopped selling stays on show. People come to see it, do not find it, and get cross. Eight photos can suggest a florist. If the funeral wreath is not among the eight, the person who wants a wreath treats you as absent. The profile window does not replace the website. The window invites people in. The sale finishes inside.

1. On the profile, show a few items people recognise, with a photo you took yourself.

Do not upload another shop's bouquet. That photo is their work, and it leaves the profile open to a complaint. Four clear frames from your own counter, in daylight, are enough, and eight blurred frames do not beat four clear ones.

2. Keep the full list on the website, group it there, and update it there.

Wedding, funeral, birth, and a plain bouquet should be separate headings. The profile shows the door to those headings and does not carry every model. Showing an item on the profile that is not on the site sends a customer to a shelf that does not exist.

3. Delete a product from the profile the same week you stop selling it.

A dead item produces a visit that ends in disappointment. If the seasonal flower is gone, take the photo down. Put up the flower that is actually on the counter this week, because an old photo is an old promise.

4. Do not type a search phrase in place of a product name.

Best cheap service is not a product. The name of the product is the name the customer would say: wreath, bridal bouquet, potted plant. A fancy title does not make the order clear, and the plain name should stay the same on the phone.

5. A profile line cannot finish an item that needs a measurement or a colour choice.

The line should send them to the page or the counter. If wreaths are made to order, write that in the same sentence on the profile and on the site. If one place says to order and the other says ready stock, the customer arrives on the wrong day.

A florist uploaded eight bouquets and stopped. The site had no list. The funeral wreath was not among the eight. People asked for the piece that was not there. She kept four real photos on the profile. She put the full list of occasions on the site. She wrote in the first line that wreaths are made to order. The call stopped being an empty tour of photos and started asking for a day and an inscription.

Before you close on Friday, look at the profile. If a flower that is not on the counter is still in a photo, take it down. If the heading on the site and the name on the profile differ, make one match the other. If you have opened a new kind of order, write it on the site first, then put a single door photo on the profile. Do not carry every model onto the profile. If you do, the window becomes a warehouse again and it will not be updated. A short window stays current. A long window collects a forgotten figure and a finished flower. If you show an amount, let it be the same in both places, and do not invent a separate tariff on the profile.
