Do Not Stuff the Keyword
Say the name of the job once in the heading and once in the first paragraph. After that, talk about the wall, the primer, and the drying time in ordinary words.
The keyword is the name of the job the person typed. Saying it once in the heading and once in the first paragraph is enough. The mistake is to string the same pair into every sentence: painting and decorating, painting and decorating, painter, painting and decorating. That string breaks the sentence and the reader takes the page for an advert. The fix is to speak normally after the name is said: wall, ceiling, primer, crack, how many coats, when it dries. A painter is already doing that job, and repeating the name of the trade in every sentence does not make the work more visible. What makes it visible is describing what you did to the wall.
1. Say the name in two places, then leave it
The heading can say painting and decorating, and the first paragraph can say which room you painted, and after the third sentence the same pair is not needed. The mistake is to put the name of the job back after every comma. The fix is to say wall, ceiling, and skirting in the later sentences, because the reader took the subject from the first sentence, and repetition does not persuade them, detail does.
2. If you stumble when you read aloud, you have stuffed it
In ordinary talk nobody says painting and decorating over and over, and when the page does it the ear stumbles. The mistake is to ignore the stumble and treat the word as necessary for ranking. The fix is to read the paragraph to another tradesperson, and if they laugh there is a pile, and if they do not the sentence is describing the work, and any ranking comes from that sentence, not from the repeat.
3. A pile of synonyms is the same mistake
Lining paint, decorating, painter, interior, and exterior into every sentence in turn is not different from repeating one word. The mistake is to think it is variety while writing the same job under five names. The fix is to choose one job in one sentence: this paragraph describes the ceiling primer, the next describes opening the crack, and the names do not rotate, each paragraph carries one step of one job.
4. Do not stuff by copying another tradesperson's sentences
The repeat on a competitor's page is not your model, that page is not being read either. The mistake is to take a page that repeats a lot for a correct page and write the same. The fix is to describe your own last job: the ceiling was sooty, we applied primer, we put on two coats, the room was used the next day, and in that account the name of the job appears once and the rest is what you did.
5. Keep the measure in lists as well
In a list of services, painting is one item, and the note under each item does not have to begin with painting and decorating again. The mistake is to open every line with the same word. The fix is to open the line with the difference in the work: ceiling primer, door varnish, exterior wall, each line carries its own name, the heading above has already said painting, and the line does not have to shout it again.
A concrete paragraph can stand like this. The living-room ceiling was sooty and there was a fine crack in the corner. We took the soot off and applied primer, opened and filled the crack, and painted two coats, and the room was used the next day. In that account the name of the trade stands in the heading and not in the body. The customer sees what was done. A paragraph that strings the same word four times says neither the soot nor the crack, and it is not read.
