What the First Phone Screen Must Show
Without scrolling, the phone should show the job, one sentence, a call or write button, and one photo of the work. A sliding banner hides these.
A customer stands in the street and sees about a thumb's height of the page. The mistake is to fill that first screen with a sliding banner, a large logo, and a menu. The name of the job, what you do, and how to reach you drop below the scroll. The fix is that four things are visible without scrolling: the name of the job, one sentence, a call or write button, and a photo of finished work. For a fridge repairer that is a line about a fridge that is not cooling, a line that says you look the same day or the next morning, a call button, and a frame taken beside the fridge. The year you started does not have to stand on this screen. The person understands whose page it is from the work.
1. The name of the job stands at the top
Fridge repair should not disappear under a logo line, because before any scroll the person checks whether they are in the right place. The mistake is to give half the screen to the logo alone. The fix is to write the name short and large, and the single line under it says what you look at: a fridge that does not cool, a motor that is noisy, a seal that is perishing, seen the same day or the next morning.
2. Let the button sit by the thumb
The call or write button should stand in the lower part of the first screen, beside the photo, and it should not stay hidden inside the menu. The mistake is to put the button at the very bottom of the page, after three scrolls. The fix is to place the button just under the name of the job, and the word on it should be call or write, not contact us, because contact us does not say which movement you want.
3. One photo is enough, not a sliding banner
On the first screen one frame shows your hand beside the fridge or the seal you changed, and a slide of five frames pushes the name of the job away. The mistake is to leave the template's sliding pictures as they came. The fix is to turn the slide off and put one daylight frame, and if the frame is not clear do not put it, which is better than an empty logo box, but a clear frame of the work is better than the logo.
4. The menu should not cover the job
If an open menu covers the first screen, the person hunts for items before seeing the work. The mistake is to leave every page as a thin strip under the menu. The fix is to keep the menu to one line: jobs, photos, write, three words are enough, the rest can sit inside the menu, and the body of the first screen stays with the job.
5. Take the year and the slogan lower
If fifteen years and quality service take the place of the job sentence on the first screen, the person does not learn what you repair. The mistake is to put the welcome paragraph in the first glance on the phone. The fix is to move the year to the section about you or to the second scroll, and the first screen carries the fridge that does not cool, the button, and one frame, and it does not have to carry anything else.
A concrete first screen can be built like this. At the top it says fridge repair. Under that is one line: we look at a fridge that is not cooling the same day or the next morning. Beside it stands a call button. Under that is one daylight frame taken beside the fridge. The logo is small. There is no sliding banner. The person can call without scrolling. The year is on the second scroll.
